Effects in the film such as double vision and blur are being used in the film at certain moments in order to give the sense that the boy is losing his mind. I really want to portray that he does not know where he is and that all rational cognitive function is slowly slipping away from him.

Cutting Film Together

There has been much experimentation of how the shots are going to flow from one to the next. In my tests, dissolves between shots have seemed to hold to the dream like quality of the film and imagery. I have been trying to find the balance between using this technique and others throughout the film so it seems balanced and not overdone.

After Effects

I have been compiling the shots of the boy following the girl down the streets in after effects which has taken away from the organic movement of the film. The zoom into the street following the girl is showing to be a bit too mechanical and contrived. I am not sure how to correct this in order to show the characters as being emerged into their environment, and not as separate elements put together. I am experimenting with the program at this time in order to be able to fix this unwanted look.

Music

Because the music to this film was created to a general arc of the film and not to specific moments there has been some timing issues. Some shots do not hit the music right on beat. I had adjusted the timing of the animation to work with the music for the sound mix. But although the slower pace of some shots still works there needs to be some extrainbetweens in order to keep with the smooth motion of the rest of the shots.

Rendering

The decision for the style of the film to be in the highly rendered way that it is has been a good one and an absolute terrible one. Although it looks nicer for things to be given a more three dimensional look, the extra time that it has taken on each shot has set my schedule back in an enormous way. Because of the time restraint of this film I have decided to edit the shading of some shot to mere tones. It is not too far off looking than the rest of the film and it has allowed me to get a lot more done.

Inspiration

This film was inspired by the many people that have come and gone in my life and who have changed something that was not always for the better. Once that person leaves and they are no longer a part of your life the damage they leave behind becomes more real and apparent than it was before their departure.

About Film

This film is about a boy who is entranced and lured by a mysterious stranger. She entices him to follow her and in doing so leads him down a path in which he did not intend to go. He blindly follows her without knowing or caring where he is going. Once the spell is broken and the woman melts away he suddenly becomes very aware of the danger he has been put in. The city around him melts away and leaves him trapped with nowhere to go.
